Show at The Mint

For those of you who express regret that you did not make the show at The Mint, I'd like to share my set list and a sweet moment shared with Merry Clayton, who so graciously joined me on an old gospel standard "Walk With Me".

Merry did a beautiful set, and had a wonderful crowd with a group of talented musicians including the famous James Gadson on drums.

But then my band took the stage in a 20 minute turn over and just lifted me to new heights. John Ferraro counted us off with the Marc Cohn cover of "Paper Walls," segway into my original "Gods and Monsters."

My band included MD Jon Gulitin, Guitarist Ramon Stagnero, the best bassist ever René Camacho, and the fabulous singers Lamont Van Hook, and Valerie Pinkston. These are the A team for me, and with Lamont and Val soloing on various tunes the crown was taken further to ascension!

This was a night I won't forget for a long time and I thank Neville Morgan and the film crew from Tremelo Productions for giving me a chance to show the transition I have taken from back up to fore front! The documentary about back-up singers with be out later this year. Look for us all on screen!

Vocalease Updated!

I was just able to update my iphone with the new version of vocalease which features Larry Goldings helping me through an interval training exercise that I find really benifical for my ear training and also augments the vocal warm up.  Please download it and rate it accordingly.  I hope you find it helpful and fun too.

Connection of Home

As I rise this morning I am called to acknowledge the feelings that my dreams created.  Performing in various parts of the world have caused me to feel some sense of longing if I've been home for a spell.  I used to tell my friends and family I have a gypsy soul and I don't feel right unless I'm planning a tour, on tour, or re-entering from a tour.

With that said, I also now have a greater love for the connection of home and hearth that warms my spirit like nothing else, and when I have that connection and then leave, it makes my journey better.

I am sure there are jobs that will take me away again this year, but when I go I want to take the ones I love with me in my heart, remembering the importance of the fire that burns here at home.  It is what fuels the performance.
